The E-Safety Council enjoyed feeding back to Mrs Spencer about Safer Internet Day 2024. We shared the focus of the day, changes online, and spoke about our whole school assembly and activities classes had carried out over the course of the day.
Safer Internet Day
We talked about how we search safely for information on the internet. We used the voice recorder to help us.
We searched for information on dinosaurs.
As part of Dosbarth Gwennol’s work for Safer Internet Day the children took part in two activities this morning. The first was to read the story of Mog and Jo. Mog and Jo were two children that loved to play games online. However, one day they saw something that worried them. Luckily they told a trusted adult what was worrying them. We discussed the importance of always telling an adult if something makes us feel worried or uncomfortable.
Our second activity was to express a range of feelings caused by technology and the Internet.
We had a productive meeting where the main focus was Safer Internet day on 6th February 2024. We looked at the resources and discussed a whole-school assembly for that day. We also audited ‘Acceptable Use Agreements’ and ensured that all classes were displaying theirs, which they were!
Jim and Rob from Powys Road Safety visited us today to introduce the Kerbcraft scheme.
Kerbcraft is a practical child pedestrian training scheme designed to teach pedestrian skills to 5 to 7 year olds, by means of practical road-side training rather than teaching in the classroom.
Kerbcraft is built around teaching three skills: choosing safe places and routes; crossing safely at parked cars and crossing safely near junctions.
After half term, the children will be taught in the road environment near the school, in pairs or groups of three children, by trained volunteers.
Prayer club was led by Lily and Esme with the theme of giving thanks. Prayer club is held every Monday at 12.30pm in the library. All welcome.
Today, pupils in Year One helped Pirate Pete put his bars of gold into four equal piles in just two moves! It took some deliberating but we used trial and error and got there in the end!
Gweithion ni gyda Lois i wneud y cwis. We worked with Lois, from Mentur Iaith, to do the quiz. The Year 6 pupils competed in groups of 2, 3 or 4. 28 other schools have competed in the quiz, the top 12 teams will go through to the next round…

Children in Year 2 and 3 have been marking Holocaust Memorial Day by making memorial flames to remember and honour those people affected by the Holocaust.
Today’s Collective Worship was led by the Worship Council. The assembly was based on our value of ‘Forgiveness’. The Council acted out the story of Jonah and the Whale . Well done to all involved.
