Well-being Day

What a lovely day we all had yesterday! We started the day by talking about our emotions and how these made us feel. We visualised these and gave them colours and shapes and thought about where we feel them in our bodies.

We then tried out different ways to deal with and calm ourselves down when we feel like we are losing control. The strategies we tried were: mindful colouring, listening to calming music, brain distracting games, different yoga styles and then thought about how playing a musical instrument can help us.  We had a fantastic session with Jim, who taught us all about different guitars. We managed to play ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ and ‘Crazy Shark’ using Boomwhack instruments which was a lot of fun! Have a look at the photos of our day.

Well-being Day

Children enjoyed a range of activities for our whole school well-being day.  The day was described as ‘the best day ever!’

Music Workshop

Last week we attended a music workshop with Jim Elliott where we had the opportunity to listen to him play a variety of musical instruments.  Jim taught let us use some of the instruments and we learnt a piece of music which we enjoyed performing to Mrs Fielding and Mrs Wood.

Well-being Enrichment Day

We have had an amazing day doing a range of exciting activities!!

We have been very busy baking cakes, painting pictures, riding on the bikes,  making masks and doing music and movement in the gym.

Music Workshop on Well-Being Wednesday!

We really enjoyed our music session with Jim Elliot today.  We learnt about different types of guitar, increased our musical vocabulary and also played some tunes on the boomwhackers!  It was great fun!

‘It was helpful to find out more about guitars’ Conna Y6

‘It was brilliant playing the boomwhackers!’  Lennie Y5

Clay

We had to plan our artefacts, based on the research we have completed. Next we had to calculate how much clay each pupil could have.

“Ew, I don’t like the feeling of this clay!”

“It’s a bit like Bake Off, isn’t it?!”

“I didn’t realise we could smooth it with our hands!”

Music Workshop

We had a great time at the music workshop with Jim! We listened to him playing his instruments and loved playing the boom whackers!

PC Ainsworth

The children had a special visit from PC Ainsworth.  They discussed the importance of staying safe online

Remembrance

I am so proud of all the children this week with their mature approach to learning about Remembrance.  They listened carefully and thought of sensible discussion points.  We discussed the significance of the poppy and looked at ‘Poppy Fields’ Vincent Van Gogh and the children created their own versions.
