We have enjoyed a variety of activities to celebrate St. David’s Day. We sung our hearts out to ‘Dydd Cofio Dewi Sant’ and ‘Yma o Hyd’, we read some Welsh stories and we played ‘Trap Llygodyn’ and ‘Faint o’r gloch ydy Mister Blaidd?’
St. David’s Day
Pyjama Drama
We enjoyed another great Pyjama session last week with Louise. We created a story about being evacuee children and we thought carefully about some of the games that they would have played.
Dyed Gwyl Dewi
We enjoyed making Welsh cakes.
We weighed, mixed and fried our cakes.
Orienteering.
Year five and six had a go at a simple orienteering task. They went outside to look for letters on the field. They marked this on their maps and then came back inside to work out the coordinates and then worked out the word.
It was a challenging activity- particularly when it started to rain and their maps got wet!
Dathliad Cymraeg/St David’s Day Celebrations
Well done to all our Dathliad Cymraeg competition winners. We celebrated their efforts in a special assembly where we were also joined by one woman band Mrs Judith Phillips, who taught us ‘A Lan Y Mor.’
Physical Literacy
We enjoy playing Sharks and the Beans games for physical literacy.
World Book Day.
What wonderful costumes we all had! We brought in our favourite books to share with the class and answered questions that other children in the class had about them. We then used a template on HWB to create a book character that could save the world!
Saint David’s Day
We worked very hard on our cutting skills to create daffodil collages.
Evacuee Assembly
We enjoyed dressing up and celebrating all of the fantastic work that we have done this term relating to our Mantle of the Expert theme of Journeys. The children performed great on stage, and should be proud of their efforts! Da iawn pawb!
World Book Day 2023
We enjoyed listening to the story of Little Red Riding and then carrying out lots of fun activities based on the story.
