Children have loved practising their dance skills and learning some Welsh folk dancing!

I am so proud of all the children this week with their mature approach to learning about Remembrance. They listened carefully and thought of sensible discussion points. We discussed the significance of the poppy and looked at ‘Poppy Fields’ Vincent Van Gogh and the children created their own versions.
Children celebrated the Hindu Festival of Light. They read and acted out the story of Rama and Sita, made diva lama, lanterns, decorations and created their own Diwali dance.
Cnoc y coed have been working towards creating a stop-frame animation about drovers. They started by creating a story board, then moulded characters out of plasticine. They are using artwork they have previously created as backgrounds for their museum exhibit.
It’s pain-staking work…you need approximately 120 photos for a 10 second film! They have also written a script for the film; we’re hoping we can merge them with the film, that might be a little optimistic- we’ll see!
We worked in Mantle groups to come up with ideas for selling items on a stall at a Victorian Fayre, with a focus on eco-friendly products and an awareness of carbon footprints! We tried to make sure that our products were locally sourced and that we used recycled materials where possible. We had to try and make a profit! We calculated the cost of rent, wages, materials and advertising amongst other things and then took these costs away from our total of items that would need to be sold to see whether we had made a profit or loss!
