Mud Run Fun 22/01/21

Y5 and Y6 children that were attending school on Friday thoroughly enjoyed the 1 mile mud run around the field!  A fab way to end a week of hard work.  Well done to all who took part!  Have a lovely weekend.

Keeping fit!

Hi everyone!  I hope that you’ve thoroughly enjoyed your Easter break and enjoyed the lovely weather that we’ve been having.  It’s been fantastic to see all the work that you’ve completed but if you have some photos of you out for a run with family members, playing football in the garden, dancing, cycling, making up gymnastics routines, trying yoga or simply going for a stroll then please can you share those too!  You can email them to me and I will put them on the website!

I have managed to keep up with my running but I really have missed running club with all of you and of course our daily mile!

Stay safe, stay home but stay healthy!

Platinum Renewal

On January the 31st, Bryony came in to see whether we were still Platinum standard. She spoke with the Eco-Council and they all contributed to the discussion. She gave us some tips that we are all eager to try. But most importantly we had our Platinum Award renewed, success! A huge thank you to Eco-Council for all their hard work during this academic year.

Writing a child-friendly prospectus for our school.

This year the School Council have decided to write a child-friendly version of the school prospectus. In our first meeting we looked at the existing prospectus and chose the bits we thought would be most useful/interesting for children to read.

We wanted to make sure that the best things we do here in Knighton CIW Primary would be celebrated, such as our Guardian Angels scheme. Also we think that some grown-ups don’t really understand it properly, which is a big shame!

At our first meeting in February we all chose the the parts of the prospectus we were most interested in. Then we went around school taking lots of photographs.

We hope to get the new prospectus finished by the end of this school year.

Guardian Angels.
We have so many great clubs!

Dathliad Cymraeg!

We have had an amazing day celebrating Wales. During the morning, we completed lot’s of lovely fun activities and our prelims for the Eisteddfod. This afternoon we all came together to compete within our classes. The children bravely showcased their talents and we all had a fun-filled afternoon.

Sporting news!

Sports council have been busy encouraging pupils to get active and it’s certainly paid off!

Lots of Ks2 children have participated in the cluster cross country events that have been held so far this term (see more photos on our ‘Sports’ page in ‘Extra-curricular’).  The children really are working hard on their fitness!

Year 3 children participated in a cluster ‘ball skills’ session over at Presteigne on Tuesday 4th February and had a fantastic time!

Year 1 and 2 have just begun some cricket ‘taster’ sessions in school and are thoroughly enjoying learning some new skills!

We are hoping to organise some tennis/hockey skills sessions for Year 4 children later on in the term.

In our next Sports Council meeting we will be analysing the results from the questionnaire that we prepared and gave out to children in Ks2 about  sport/fitness  in and out of school.

Safer Internet Day

We completed activities for ‘Safer Internet Day’ and P.C. Ainsworth came into school to talk to us about how to stay safe online.

We drew and described our ‘online identity’.
