Foundation Phase Disco!

Many thanks to the Friends of the School for organising a fabulous end of half term disco for us.  A lovely time was had by all!

Pupil Voice

As part of our topic on ‘Fantasy and Fairy tales’, we were pleased that Jack (Jack and the Beanstalk) visited us last week to inspire us with our ‘Mantle of the Expert’ planning for the next half term.

He needs our help as he is fed up of living so close to the giant and he want to move house to a nicer area.  We have suggested that he and his mother move to Knighton.  Over the next few weeks we will be finding out information about the local area and reporting back to him.

Foundation Phase Party!

Children in the Foundation Phase all enjoyed a fabulous party which they had organised on Friday 25th October.  The children had been working very hard planning the party entertainment, fancy dress theme, and the advertising of the party.  I’m sure you’ll agree that they did a fantastic job and looked amazing in their costumes.  Well done!

We have been taking part in daily mindfulness activities. This morning we danced like there was nobody watching. We shut our eyes and danced. We felt happy, scared, nervous, excited and silly.

Diwali 2019

In Golden Time we have been making things to celebrate Diwali. We looked at the story of Rama and Sita and found out that light is very important in the festival. Here is what we have made.

Welcome to the Specialist Centre

The centre is an additional resource that allow pupils to gain specialised and specific support in order to help close and reduce any learning gaps they may have. For additional information please contact the school or specialist centre staff.

Sowing Seeds

Today we walked to Ffrydd Road in Knighton and helped the community by scattering seeds on the bank. Hopefully, we will see some beautiful flowers growing there in the warmer weather.

Stem Kitchen in Y5 and Y6

On Wednesday 9th October we enjoyed our ‘Stem Science’ day as a school.  In Year 5 and Year 6 we carried out some investigations from ‘Stem Kitchen’- they were great fun!  Our focus was ‘Materials and their Properties’.

The Wizard of Oz

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about the Wizard of Oz. We read the story first to get information about the characters, settings and plot. We then created a story mountain highlighting the most important parts of the story. To add more detail we watched the film. Everyone loved the film.

We went onto painting the different settings using the correct colours. We wanted to describe the different settings and used a thesaurus to search for WOW words.

Finally we were ready to write out own stories. We used Alan Peat sentence structures, description, similes, speech and different forms of punctuation.
