World book day!

In Cnoc-y-coed, we investigated different genres of books and shared our likes and dislikes of books we have read and seen. We then designed our ideal book. We thought about having eye catching front covers and interesting blurbs.

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant Hapus

We looked amazing in our Welsh colours and costumes today. We have enjoyed painting daffodils, making Welsh flags digitally on Hwb, and preparing for Dathliad Cymraeg day next week.

Cwis Dim Clem

Our group won the second round and are through to the next round! Llongyfarchiadau!

Soil Formation

The children have been busy investigating soil formation. Here are some pictures of them making their own compost bins.

Forest School Fun!

We used a Timber Hitch knot and Taut-line Hitch knot to tie the rope to the tree (using instructions to help us!). Some pupils used a knife to make our own tent pegs, and others then built the shelter! Great team-work! Given the weather we needed the shelter and out waterproofs, not that the pupils cared- as demonstrated by their faces at the end of the session!

Dathliad Cymraeg

As part of their round robin of Welsh activities, children worked with Mrs Fielding to learn the song ‘Mi Welais Jac Y Do’, they then used the musical instruments to create a composition to accompany the song.

RE-Hot Cross Buns

We enjoyed following a recipe to make Hot Cross Buns. We discussed the symbol of the cross and why we eat Hot Cross Buns at Easter.

Kerbcraft

Here are some of the children enjoying their Kerbcraft sessions with Powys Road Safety. Many thanks to Sue Davies and Jess Price for volunteering.

Story telling

Pupils enjoyed a super storytelling session with Peter and Sharon. They looked at the silk trade road and they became traders travelling around the world.
