Foundation Phase Disco!

Many thanks to the Friends of the School for organising a fabulous end of half term disco for us.  A lovely time was had by all!

Pupil Voice

As part of our topic on ‘Fantasy and Fairy tales’, we were pleased that Jack (Jack and the Beanstalk) visited us last week to inspire us with our ‘Mantle of the Expert’ planning for the next half term.

He needs our help as he is fed up of living so close to the giant and he want to move house to a nicer area.  We have suggested that he and his mother move to Knighton.  Over the next few weeks we will be finding out information about the local area and reporting back to him.

Foundation Phase Party!

Children in the Foundation Phase all enjoyed a fabulous party which they had organised on Friday 25th October.  The children had been working very hard planning the party entertainment, fancy dress theme, and the advertising of the party.  I’m sure you’ll agree that they did a fantastic job and looked amazing in their costumes.  Well done!

Science STEM!

We have had a fantastic morning working outdoors.  We have been investigating the mini-beasts that live in the school grounds.  We started off the morning going on a mini-beast hunt, then we constructed a bar graph to show the different mini-beasts that live in the school grounds.

We then discussed the habitats that different mini-beast live and decided to construct a bug hotel!  We thought carefully about the natural materials that we would need to collect, and in groups we constructed our hotels.

Literacy Enrichment Day!

As part of our Literacy Enrichment Day on Wednesday, we looked at the story Handa’s Surprise.

We enjoyed a range of activities including data handling on HWB, drama and role play and creative art.  Each of the activities had a oracy theme.

Researching Facts about Wolves!

This week the children have been busy developing their reading skills using non-fiction books and the Internet to research facts about wolves.

They will use their research next week to write their reports about wolves.

Volunteers!

Many thanks for your support with volunteering to help with swimming for Dosbarth Eryr and Dosbarth Gwennol.  Without this valued support we would not be able to commit to weekly swimming lessons.

I am also looking for volunteers to help listen to readers in Dosbarth Gwennol.

If you are interested, please see myself, Mrs Fielding for more information.

Thanks

Mrs Fielding
