Tric a Chlic is an original Welsh resource that is a progressive and systematic synthetic phonic reading scheme, which has recently been adapted for schools that teach Welsh as a second language.
There are 3 levels to Tric a Chlic;
Level 1 (Cam 1)
Level 2 (Cam 2)
Level 3 (Cam 3)
Eirian Lloyd-Jones, the author of Tric a Chlic, has published videos of introducing the sounds and words, and reading the story books.
Please follow the link below to watch and interact with the videos;
When you have opened the link, you will need to click on and subscribe (it’s free) to ‘Canolfan Peniarth’. Then select the ‘videos’ option and scroll down to find the first video from ‘Cam 1’.

We are going to start live Welsh sessions at 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These sessions will be the same as the work you have accessed on teams or the website. If you are unable to attend please do not worry, you can still do the work off the website. Just as the letters and sounds session I will open the link 10 mins early giving you time to log on. Please keep your microphone on mute!
I thought this would be helpful, especially for pronunciation. We will to a quick 5/10 minutes of Tric a Chilc. I will then go over the PowerPoints and from next week support with the written work. I hope this helps.
We managed our first live lesson today. I think everyone enjoyed. The letters and sounds live sessions will take place at 9:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. You will need to log into teams and join the meeting from the calendar.
The session will be live from 9:20 so we give 10 mins for everyone to log in. I ask for everyone to have their microphone on mute for the whole session. The class camera and microphone will be turned on at 9:30. The session will be 10mins at the most. All you need is a piece of paper and a pen.
I hope to see you tomorrow. If you are unable to join the live lessons please do not worry. The lesson is also on the website/teams to do at a time that is suitable for you.
If all goes well we may also try welsh sessions too.
