Oxford Owl E-books

Please follow the weblink below to access a selection of reading books online.

You may need to create an account, but this is all free.  Select the ‘e-books’ tab, then ‘oxford owl e-book library’. Take a look at the stage your child is currently reading by looking on the back of the book. Select the same stage from the options available.

This website has a lovely selection of activities and resources available, so take a look around and enjoy exploring.

Daily Check in Schedule

You will have the opportunity to check in with your child’s class teacher once a day, while at home, via Teams on Hwb.  This will be a 10 minute session where your child can chat to their teacher or ask any questions about their home learning. Please choose the most convenient time for you and your child below.

Hwyaid Bach (Reception)-8:40, 12:00 and 3:00

Eryr/Gwennol (Year 1/2)-8:30, 12:20 and 3:30

To join the meeting your child will need to log into Hwb, click on the Outlook Icon and then click on the email that will be in the inbox from the class teacher, with the subject heading ‘Check in.’ Within the opened email you will be able to see in blue text, underlined, ‘click here to join the meeting.’ Click on that text and you will be taken to Teams where you will then need to click on ‘join meeting.’ Your child’s class teacher will accept you into the meeting at the appropriate time.

Reindeer Run!!!!

Well done to all the reindeer that took part in our Reindeer run yesterday.  All of the reindeer thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  They were especially excited to be greeted by Santa who also ran the course with them! Many thanks to all who sponsored the event and a special thanks to Mrs Blower for organising.

Maths Homework

This weekends Maths Challenge to be  completed by Monday 14th December

Ask your grown-up to tell you a number up to 20.  Place this number of raisins/cereal pieces on your plate. If your grown-up says ‘one more’, can you add one more and say the number you have? If your grown-up says ‘one less’, can you eat one then count the number you have left?

Can you either email some of you number sentences that you made to your class teacher or email a photograph of you completing the activity to your teacher.

Add ‘9’, ’19’, and 29 to the following numbers…..27, 36, 48, 52, 68, 72, 83, 94.

Remember to use the strategy that we practised in class.  For example, when adding 19, you would add 20 and then take away 1.

So, 34 + 19 you would do 34 + 20 = 54 and then 54-1 = 53.

Therefore, 34 + 19 = 53

Email your number sentences to your class teacher.

Maths Homework

Happy Friday! This weekends homework is a Maths worksheet based on the work that the children have done in class this week.  Hard copies have been given to all children today and will need to be completed by Monday. Thanks

Spring Term Planning

This week we have had a virtual live visit by some little piggy’s and a big bad wolf!

The pigs challenged the children to work together in groups to design and build a strong house that would protect them from the wolf.

This challenge acted as a fantastic stimulus to help the children mind map their ideas about what they would like to learn next term for our topic ‘Houses and Homes’.
