Shrove Tuesday

We enjoyed making pancakes whilst investigating fractions.  We cut our pancakes into halves and quarters.

Many thanks to Mrs Wood and Mrs Evans for spending the afternoon cooking the delicious pancakes!

Safer Internet Day

We have completed a range of exciting and engaging activities as part of our ‘Safer Internet Day’.

We started off the day discussing ‘identity’ and completing an activity about our identity and the things that make us special and unique.

We welcomed PC Ainsworth who talked to us about online safety.

We read an interesting story called ‘Digiduck’s Famous Friend’ which demonstrated in a safe and interesting way, that people online may not always be who they say they are, and that ‘friends’ made solely online are still strangers.

We also we talked about online activities that make pupils happy.

Knighton in the past

Many thanks to Mrs Davies for coming into talk to us today about how Knighton has changed over the years. She talked about what Knighton was like in the past, the new roads that have been built and how shops have changed.

We listened carefully and asked Mrs Davies questions.

Feeding the birds!

The pigeon from New York is worried about his relatives in Wales.  He has heard that it is Winter and he is worried that they won’t have enough food to eat.  He needed our help to make bird feeders to hang outside so that his Welsh friends and relatives would have enough food to eat.

We used our reading skills to read and follow instructions to make our bird feeders and we have hung them outside in the playground.

A visit from Santa!

We were delighted that Santa dropped in and visited us yesterday for our Christmas party.  We enjoyed chatting to him about Christmas and he commented on our exceptional manners and our excellent behaviour!

Christmas Party

All of the children in the Foundation Phase have had a very enjoyable afternoon at our Christmas party, with a special visit from Father Christmas too!

Investigating Christmas Cards

Today we have been busy investigating different types of Christmas cards.  We have looked at the four types of Christmas card; Biblical, Secular, Humorous and Victorian and discussed their similarities and differences.

In our groups we sorted the Christmas cards in a variety of ways.

Christmas fair!

The children enjoyed visiting the KS2 Christmas Fair this afternoon.  KS2 pupils and staff have been working very hard designing and making products all week to sell at the fair.  It was lovely to see it so well supported!
