Christmas Fayre

Year 6 enjoyed hosting a stall at the Fayre on Friday. They have worked hard to not only create products to sell but also to complete costing activities using Microsoft Excel and formulas to keep track of the finances.

Christmas Fayre preparations

We are beginning work on our products for the Christmas Fayre; we have selected products, materials and worked on the costings using Excel and used formulas. It took a few attempts to get the formulas working but we persevered! Our very lovely Miss Bunn has been helping us. But what are we makingโ€ฆ?

Young Engineers Explore Innovation at Clayton Engineering

Yesterday we stepped into the shoes of engineers and researchers during a special visit to Clayton Engineering, a leading manufacturer of specialised mechanical products.

The visit was the culmination of a classroom-based project where the children formed their own “engineering team,” investigating real-world challenges and designing imaginative solutions. The trip to Clayton Engineering offered a unique opportunity to see how professional engineers work in different industries in ‘real life’

Founded in 1973 and based in Knighton, Clayton Engineering is renowned for its expertise in corrosion protection, hydraulic systems, and specialist vehicles. The children were given a behind-the-scenes look at the factory and even witnessed a demonstration of the companyโ€™s latest launch vehicle in the car park

The visit included a presentation by engineers Adam Hardwick and Dave Andrew, who answered questions prepared by the pupils, ranging from โ€œHow do you make lifeboat launchers?โ€ to โ€œWhat materials do you use?โ€ The children also toured the workshop, donned high-visibility vests, and learned about safety procedures in a working engineering environment. Many thanks to Clayton Engineering for their hospitality. Diolch!
