Forest School

We have been back outside completing some Forest School sessions. This time it was about following the lead of the learners and seeing what they remembered from last time. Everyone remembered the Forest School rules, and the rules around using tools (a knife this time) were also remembered and demonstrated. Den building was a big hit, they used the pegs created by the knives to hold down the tarpaulin and looked at how to tie some different knots.

STEM workshop

Today we were visited by Lucy and Jack from RAF Cosford for a stem workshop. We discussed the forces at play during rocket flights then created models before launching them. We had a winning team for their design and a winning team for the distance their rocket travelled.

The second session involved Lego SPIKE prime, which is always a firm favourite with our pupils.

Year 5/6 production

This year our play was inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Pupils have worked to create new characters and scenes, and wrote the scripts themselves. They have worked hard and a short schedule, hopefully everyone enjoyed the show!

Preparation for our production

We have been busy working on our scripts and songs for the last couple of weeks. We have now moved on to props and stage designโ€ฆ! We canโ€™t wait for you to see it!

Crefft

Some of our pupils have been working on Celf a Chrefft entries for the Urdd Eisteddfod. Cutting, plaiting, threading and sewing skills have all been developed.

Gemau Iard

Today Mrs Cornelius came in to help Criw Cymraeg teach the rest of the school some yard games, in Welsh! Roedd eโ€™n hwyl. It was fun!

Dathliad Cymraeg

Today we celebrated Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant and all of the activities we completed on Wednesday. Each class performed a song. Prizes were awarded for biscuit decorating, handwriting and designing t-shirts. Roedd eโ€™n hwyl.

Poetry

Today it was our turn to work with Cheryl. We thought about who we are, what makes us us. Then we explored cinquain poems and the rules around them. We worked together to write a class cinquain about Refuge.

Finally we explored the idea of sanctuaryโ€ฆhow we offer it when someone needs refuge.

Caerdydd 2025!

Year 6 enjoyed a busy 3 days exploring Cardiff and some surrounding areas. We learned about some of the history of Wales, about our parliament and had some fun down on the bay too! Diolch to all of our hosts and to our Friends of School and The Blakemore Foundation who both made contributions towards our school trip.
