Forest School with Branching Out

Today our class has been lucky enough to work with Toni and Hels in a Forest School session.

We used a pruning saw a to cut a branch of a hazel tree to create a rope ladder. Others created dens whilst waiting. Lots of skills were developed, including resilience, team-work, communication and empathy.

Local artist

We have been lucky enough to be visited by a local artist. We had studied the art work of Stuart Roper and were put in contact with him through the art gallery in Knighton.

He came in to talk us through the process of using acrylic paints to create landscape scenes on canvas. We were all fascinated by his approach and are excited to try this medium and process ourselves. So many questions were asked.

The Spaceguard Centre

Today we walked to and from the Spaceguard Centre; approximately 12,000 adult steps! Everyone walked really sensibly and enjoyed the views! We learned some really amazing facts too!

Mapiau!

The last time the children were with Sally they wanted to know where other places were, and which direction to point at for them. So this afternoon the children went out with compasses, maps and clipboards to identify which way was North, where familiar places were and to learn how to read maps!

The last time the children worked with Sally they were asking where other places were in relation to Knighton. So this afternoon the class went out with compasses, maps and a clipboard.

Welsh! Cymraeg!

Today we were visited by Gruff from Llandeilo to teach us some fun games to help us learn Welsh whilst playing! Everyone had a great time!
