Pentabus; part 2!

This week we thought about home; what is it? We had to consider the 5 senses when thinking about home. We then gave a word to describe home….calm, happy, relaxed, like I can do whatever I want, entertained, sleepy…!

Pentabus project

We are working with Andrew, from Pentabus, on a project which has been part-funded by the Knighton and District Refugee Support Group.

We started by considering how all of our experiences are different.

Study an image

After our training with Tim Taylor we tried a new way to move into our mantle. We studied an image then tried to imagine the thoughts of the people in it. Our pupils showed such empathy and understanding.

”We need to move up to make room for more people”

”Where are the rest of my family?”

”I’m scared”

”What if we drown?”

Rainbow Fish\Pysgoden Enfys

In RE we listened to the story of ‘The Rainbow Fish.’ We talked about how we could be peace makers, through sharing and our kindness.

Project Afon _ River Project

Today, the Year 5s in Barcud Coch took a very wet walk to the River Teme- near the Offa’s Dyke Centre. Sarah and Toni were delivering sessions as part of the Celebrating the Teme project.

We found all sorts of creatures, so many more than we expected to! It made us think twice about throwing stones into the river…as fun as that is!

Dinosaur homework

Pupils in Aderyn Du were given some homework to create a dinosaur made out of recycled materials, and to follow a recipe to make their own dinosaur poo! All the children created some fantastic finished products and enjoyed showing them to the rest of the class.

Dai Woolridge

Spoken Word poet and author Dai Woolridge visited us and shared his creation story with us. It inspired us to write our own poetry and share it with the rest of the school. We also enjoyed a special performance after school for parents and members of the community.
