Diolch yn fawr i Gruff from Menter iaith for coming in and teaching year 5/6 more about the key historical events of Wales. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning more about their country and enjoyed creating their timeline shields.
We enjoyed Collecting litter from around Knighton and bringing it back to school to bin or recycle.
Balancing, juggling and hoola-hooping are circus skills we learned this afternoon with Peter and Sharon. We had a great time!
We have had loads of fun today participating in a variety of activities linked with our focus story ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We created houses, identified the initial sound in some of the words from the story and played ‘Hot Seat’.
We loved listening to the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ Following the story, we hot seated the characters, made the three houses and practised initial sounds, spelling and letter formation.
The children have also been finding out about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light. They enjoyed using their reading skills to read and follow instructions to make Diwali decorations. Ethical Informed Citizens
The children estimated and weighed pumpkins. We ordered the pumpkins by weight and we discovered that the largest is not always the heaviest.
We thought about what we could do with the apples on the school apple tree. We decided to make apple crumble. We weighed, measured, rubbed and chopped. It was yummy!
