Handwashing Heroes!

We had a visit from Powys Teaching Health Board who carried out a handwashing workshop with us. We looked at the impact a sneeze can have, and how far it can travel. We also looked at the importance of washing your hands correctly.

Hello Yellow!

As part of Hello Yellow Day, we looked at different emotions and positive words to describe ourselves. We decorated biscuits with faces, and created some beautiful pieces of artwork. Da iawn pawb!

The boy who harnessed the wind

Year 2 and 3 have really ‘stepped’ in to their Mantle of the Expert commission this term where they have been commissioned to be a team of engineers and researchers.  They have found inspiration from the story ‘The boy who harnessed the wind’ which  follows the story of William who built a wind turbine using scrap materials to create electricity.  The children have been making lists of materials that they will need to complete their engineering role and thinking of interesting questions that they would like to ask William about his invention.  If you work in engineering or renewable energy sector, we would really love to hear from you.

Australia!

Year 3 and 4 had a great morning celebrating a day of โ€˜Australiaโ€™. We baked some lamington cakes, made boomerangs, painted didgeridoos and created some Australia artwork. They all had a fabulous time.

Forest School!

Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed their block of Forest School sessions. They have learnt lots of new skills and demonstrated great resilience, perseverance and confidence! Da iawn pawb!

Habitats!

We have been busy creating a habitat box! We chose different types of materials we wanted to use to create a range of different habitats. Bendigedig!

Ein Cartref / Our Home

As part of our community-based art project, we worked with Ciara and Izzy from Old School Arts to create a mural of birds flying over Knighton.  Every learner in the school was involved in the project, from painting the mural to creating their own bird.  This project followed our work from Refugee Week and the theme of โ€˜Community as a Superpowerโ€™ and that together we are strong, creative and make things happen.
