As part of our community-based art project, we worked with Ciara and Izzy from Old School Arts to create a mural of birds flying over Knighton. Every learner in the school was involved in the project, from painting the mural to creating their own bird. This project followed our work from Refugee Week and the theme of ‘Community as a Superpower’ and that together we are strong, creative and make things happen.
Children in Years 2, 3, and 4 were absolutely fantastic in their recent performance of ‘This is your Life’. The performance was about the life and works or author Dr Seuss. As part of their mantle of the expert commission for this term, they had the task of writing and performing three plays based on stories written by Dr Seuss. Year 2 wrote their version of ‘The Cat in the Hat’, year 3 wrote their play about ‘The Lorax’ and year 3 pupils created their version of ‘Horton Hears a Who’. Da iawn Pawb!
We enjoyed a fabulous end to a very busy half term. We made chocolate rice crispy cakes and we completed a range of circus activities and games. Our sunflowers have now been sent home and we can’t wait to see how tall they grow!
We had a fabulous VE Day celebration lunch accompanied by Knighton Town Silver Band. Thank you to our wonderful kitchen staff and Knighton band members!
Today we were excited and honoured to be joined in school by ninety-nine year old War veteran Christopher Price. He answered questions asked of him by Years Two, Three and Six. Pupils learned of his experiences in the Second World War as he gave us a valuable insight as to what life was like. Diolch Christopher!
We have been developing our vocabulary about the ‘weather’ in our Welsh language sessions. We have enjoyed learning lots of new songs and following instructions playing parachute games.
In RVE, we created a photo gallery showing things that we found interesting and beautiful. We zoomed in on some of the items so that we can see them in more detail.
