Road Safety

Rob, a road safety officer from Powys, visited us today. He talked about how to be safe on the road, covering aspects such as seat belts, booster seats, cycling, helmets etc. The class were great, asking thoughtful questions and evaluating choices they have made themselves.

Mr Phormula

Barcud Coch were transfixed on Mr Phormula and his beat-boxing skills. He showed us how to make different sounds with our mouths and bodies. He then demonstrated how he uses being bilingual to help him be different from other performers. We then worked together to write our own verse for a school rap, using English and Welsh. Roedd e’n hwyl!

Christmas Fayre

Year 6 enjoyed hosting a stall at the Fayre on Friday. They have worked hard to not only create products to sell but also to complete costing activities using Microsoft Excel and formulas to keep track of the finances.

Library visit

Recently Year 6 visited Knighton library. This was facilitated by Larry who is working closely with Mrs Fielding to access a grant to develop our school library. We visited to learn how libraries are run; the roles involved in it, the resources that are available and how it is all organised. Emily organised a selection of fun activities to help us learn about these; everyone had a wonderful time. Diolch.

Challenge Yourself 25

We have been busy celebrating and raising money for Children In Need today. Year 6 started the school by delivering a whole-school assembly about Children In Need. We then spent the afternoon completing challenges…hula hooping, the plank, throwing balls, press-ups…all for 25 seconds with a bit of competition between friends. We also learned the Strictly dance. Everyone was so willing to give it all a go. Da iawn, bawb!

Christmas Fayre preparations

We are beginning work on our products for the Christmas Fayre; we have selected products, materials and worked on the costings using Excel and used formulas. It took a few attempts to get the formulas working but we persevered! Our very lovely Miss Bunn has been helping us. But what are we making…?
