PC Ainsworth

Today we were visited by PC Ainsworth who spoke to us about drugs. We considered the different types of drugs … medicines, legal and illegal. We then discussed the dangers of drugs. This is a really important conversation to have and would be worth following up at home.

Home-made charcoal!

We couldn’t believe how easy it was to make charcoal! We were keen to get drawing with it the next day!

Forest School - fires!

Toni and Hels from Branching Out visited us again, this time we were lighting fires. All children showed great perseverance in trying to get the fires started. Despite it being June we all appreciated the warmth from the fires and even more than that, we loved the toasted marshmallows! We also made our own charcoal which we are excited to create some art work with!

Urdd Craft competition

A massive well done to the Urdd members that participated in this years craft competition. Here are their final products that were taken to the regional round ready for judging.

Forest School with Branching Out

Today our class has been lucky enough to work with Toni and Hels in a Forest School session.

We used a pruning saw a to cut a branch of a hazel tree to create a rope ladder. Others created dens whilst waiting. Lots of skills were developed, including resilience, team-work, communication and empathy.

Local artist

We have been lucky enough to be visited by a local artist. We had studied the art work of Stuart Roper and were put in contact with him through the art gallery in Knighton.

He came in to talk us through the process of using acrylic paints to create landscape scenes on canvas. We were all fascinated by his approach and are excited to try this medium and process ourselves. So many questions were asked.

Eco warrior egg competition

Da iawn to the children for their wonderful creations. It was hard to judge as they all looked great and it was clear that a lot of effort had gone into creating them.

The winner is……Lola Tongue for her wonderful eco warrior egg!
