Spring Term 2017 – Parent/Carer Information Sheet for Jac-y-do & Cnoc-y-coed

Welcome back after Christmas! We hope you have all had a good Christmas!

This term we have got an exciting new topic, ‘Myths, Magic and Mystery’. We will be looking at King Arthur and Harry Potter. The children will be finding out about King Arthur and his life and even creating a film of Harry Potter using the iPads. In Science, the children are going to be finding out about magnets and different forces.

Homework will include reading with your child as regularly as possible, practising weekly spellings and minute maths. Depending on the work completed in class, work may be sent home to reinforce learning.

Please could you ensure your child has a water bottle in school with them every day along with a coat and a pair of wellies, if these are not already in school. As we are a Healthy School, we encourage the children to bring in a piece of fruit for their morning break. It is also possible to buy bananas and apples from Sarah in the office for 30p. Please note that only fresh fruit or raisins/  sultanas can be eaten at breaktime.

Home school reading books will need to be in school every day along with the reading record. Spelling books also need to be in every day as the children will have opportunities to practise these during the week.

We are always looking for volunteers to come in to both classes to listen to readers and help with activities. If you are interested then please let us know (a DBS will be needed if you are volunteering on a regular basis).

If there is anything you would like to discuss with us then please feel free to make an appointment at the office.
